Nicki Minaj turned up for the first “American Idol” 2013 live show 13 minutes after it went on air.

The fiesty female rapper was notably absent from her seat as the programme hit TV screens in the US on Wednesday. Presenter Ryan Seacrest made light of the situation as Nicki struggled to make it to the studio after getting stuck in traffic.

Ryan introduced the episode by saying: . “We are coming to you live and on time… three of your four judges have made it here tonight. Say hi to Keith Urban, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey.”

Ryan then proceeded to walk across the studio and take his place in Nicki’s empty seat.

He then joked with the judges saying: “So this is where Nicki sits. Hear she is seven minutes out and there is some congestion on the 405, she should be here momentarily.”

Randy then joked: “I heard it was the 101.”

To which Ryan responded: “Which one of you gave Nicki the wrong directions today? Which one of you drained the fuel from her car?”

And Keith joined in the joke adding: “I don’t know.”

Mariah – who has famously had her differences with Nicki throughout the course of the show – remained silent throughout, simply shaking her head disapprovingly.

Ryan then introduced the first performance of the night with Nicki still not in her chair.

When she eventually arrived she took her place alongside the rest of the panel wearing a black tracksuit with her hood up.

This is so not nice of her, she should have left earlier. I guess she is not taking the show as serious as the rest judges that was why she came late
