“I’ve been sick this whole show, i’m trying to get all my work done, to recover. I’ll be having [surgery] here soon. I’m getting prepared for all that. I’m ready to feel better, feel like myself,” he said.

Phillips had to cut short his rehearsals and returned to Georgia two weeks ago to see his family doctor, who said the singer needed immediate surgery as the problems became so severe that physicians put in a stent to temporarily fix the difficulty.

Ureteric stents are thin tubes inserted into the ureter to prevent obstruction of urine flow from the kidneys.

American Idol producers are doing everything possible to get him up and running before the Summer Tour starting in Detroit on July 9.

Wishing him speedy recovery.
